Rows of bareroot roses

Bareroot Season Is Here

Grown in the field by expert growers, roses and fruit trees are carefully unearthed during their natural winter dormancy and shipped directly to nurseries, ready for planting. This winter dormancy is key—just as the plant above ground rests, so do its roots, allowing for safe transport and transplanting. And because of this natural cycle, bareroot season is when you'll find the widest selection of varieties at the best prices.

Why Our Bareroots Are The Best

In our mild California climate, the bareroot planting window is typically short, but at Green Acres Nursery & Supply, we pot up our bareroot roses and fruit trees in plantable pulp pots. This extends the benefits of the season and makes planting easy, while protecting delicate new roots from breaking or drying out.

Our team at Matsuda's, our local growing grounds, carefully inspects and trims each bareroot variety and adds a special proprietary soil blend to ensure optimal root growth.
