Produces large, smooth nuts with well sealed shells and pearly kernels. Late leafing makes Chandler less susceptible to frost damage, walnut blight, and codling moth compared to other varieties. Partly self-fruitful.

Grown on NCB walnut rootstock.

Prefers enriched soil with good drainage. Establish good structure when young and keep pruned. In summer, prune to keep tree to a manageable size. Estimated chilling time of 700-1,000 hours below 45°F.
