Clusters of red-purple flowers emerge from bare branches early spring, followed by glossy, blue-green, heart-shapes leaves. Deciduous tree has a mounding, weeping habit. Makes for a beautiful container plant, specimen or accent within the garden.
Prefers well draining, sandy, slightly alkaline soils. Prune in late winter. Feed with a tree and shrub fertilizer in late winter before new growth appears.
