One of the first shrubs to show color, this bright indicator of spring bears dozens of bright yellow tassel-like flowers along bare branches late winter into early spring. Green leaves emerge after bloom. Use in containers, low borders, cutting gardens, or as a specimen plant.
Although tolerant of most soils, plant in enriched soil with good drainage. Prune immediately after bloom. Feed in spring with an all purpose fertilizer.
These characteristics apply to the greater Sacramento area and nearby regions.
