Heirloom variety of asparagus with a robust flavor. Harvest new growth shoots in spring when they are 6"-8" tall once plants have matured. Expect a light harvest in two years after planting with more substantial yields thereafter. Resistant to asparagus rust.

Plant in enriched garden soil with good drainage after the soil has warmed up to 50 degrees. Plant crowns 4" below surface and 12-16 inches apart in rows with at least 3' between each row. Mulch to protect roots. Cut back to ground in winter after plant tops have turned brown. Plants will begin to produced spears during second year and can be lightly harvested. Harvest by cutting spears with pruners or a sharp knife at ground level. Feed during the growing season with a vegetable fertilizer about once a month.
