Fragrant clusters of dark purple flowers bloom profusely in spring then rebloom summer through fall. Deciduous shrub grows in an upright habit with oval, tear drop shaped leaves. Use as an informal hedge, in mixed borders, or as a specimen.

Grows well in enriched, slightly alkaline soil with excellent drainage. Increase water just before and during spring blooms. Feed with a tree and shrub fertilizer in spring before new growth. Prune back after blooms to promote dense growth.
